Do I need Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 as well?
No. HostedEmail.io is a complete email provider. You don't need Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 as well.
Can I keep the address I already use?
Yes, as long as it's on a domain you own. We can copy your existing mail across for free, and you keep the same address.
Isn't Shopify's own email forwarding enough?
Forwarding sends incoming mail to another inbox, but you can't send from your store's domain with it. Replies go out from your personal address. An email account lets you send as you@yourstore.com.
How long does set-up take?
About 15 minutes to install the app, add the DNS records and create an email account. DNS changes usually take effect straight away, but can sometimes take an hour or more.
I'm not very technical. Do I need to understand DNS?
No. The app shows you exactly which records to add and tells you when your domain is set up correctly. If you get stuck, or would rather not touch DNS at all, our support team will talk you through it step by step, whatever your level of experience.
Are larger email accounts available?
Yes. You can choose the storage for each email account:
- 10 GB: $5 a month
- 20 GB: $6 a month
- 30 GB: $6.50 a month
- 40 GB: $7 a month
- 50 GB: $7.50 a month
The change shows on your next Shopify invoice.
What happens if I uninstall?
Billing stops and your email accounts are deleted, including the mail in them. The app warns you first, so download anything you want to keep, or ask us to help move it. See billing questions.
What happens to my email if I leave Shopify?
You can keep it. If you close your Shopify store, we move your email accounts to a direct HostedEmail.io account and bill you for them directly instead of through Shopify. Your addresses, folders and mail stay as they are. Contact us before you close your store and we'll set it up.
